Polizeimusik Oberösterreich

After the merger of the Gendarmerie and Police in 2005, the Gendarmerie Music of Upper Austria and the Police Music of Linz were united that same year. The newly formed "State Police Orchestra of Upper Austria" was renamed "Police Music of Upper Austria" in 2012.
The members of the orchestra are trained police officers who perform executive duties at various stations throughout Upper Austria. The Police Music of Upper Austria performs in different formations and ensembles. In addition to official events, around 15 concerts are performed annually. Besides performances, mainly held as benefit concerts within their home province, they regularly receive invitations to neighboring provinces and countries. Concert tours have taken them to Italy, Mexico, and China. Highlights in recent years have included a performance at St. Peter's Basilica and a papal audience in Rome, as well as participation in the Berlin Music Parade "Berlin Tattoo" and the "Bremen Tattoo."
The Police Music of Upper Austria is under the musical direction of conductor Robert Wieser, with Christian Brummer serving as bandmaster, responsible for organizational matters. The head of the Police Music of Upper Austria is Music Officer Hofrat MMag. David Furtner, the head of the Office for Public Relations and Internal Operations.
The Police Music of Upper Austria is considered a key promotional tool for the Upper Austrian State Police Directorate and aims to serve as a cultural link between the public and the police through its artistic work. It is regarded as the spearhead of police public relations efforts.

Conductor: Revierinspektor Robert Wieser

Inspector Robert Wieser began his police career in Vienna, where, after completing his basic training, he was assigned to the 15th district of Vienna and served there.
Since his transfer to the Enns Police Station in 2013, he has been active as a trumpeter and deputy conductor until he was appointed as the conductor of our ensemble in May 2021.
Robert Wieser initially received instrumental lessons at the local music school in St. Peter in der Au (Lower Austria) in the subjects of violin, trumpet, and piano. He attended the Adalbert Stifter Music High School in Linz, while simultaneously completing preparatory studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University, majoring in trumpet under Professor Josef Eidenberger.
He completed his military service with the Military Band of Lower Austria as the 1st trumpeter.
Wieser has undertaken conducting courses with the Wind Music Association of Lower Austria and the Upper Austrian Music School System under Thomas Doss. He has also participated in numerous advanced training sessions and masterclasses, including with Maurice Hamer, Andreas Spörri, Thomas Ludescher, and Jan Cober.
In addition to his role as conductor of the Upper Austrian Police Band, Robert Wieser serves as conductor of the St. Peter in der Au Music Association in his hometown and as the district bandmaster of the Amstetten District Music Association.
Robert Wieser is regularly appointed as a juror for concert music evaluations by the Wind Music Associations of Upper and Lower Austria, as well as for various wind instrument competitions.
